Conducting polymers are incredibly versatile materials. Due to morphology, processability, and ease of functionalization, our materials are particularly useful for a wide range of industrial applications. Fibron currently has four main product development streams – although consultancy in other application areas may be possible. Sensors Our material has a high surface area and is excellent for use in gas vapor sensors and biosensors such as:
Composites Because of the processability of our materials and the absence of non-native polymer additives such as surfactants they are excellent materials for use in new composite formulations. Our inexpensive synthetic methods are competitively priced as fillers and additives to other plastics. Fibron’s lightweight nanostructures are also highly attractive for use as replacements for metals in weight or density sensitive applications such as aerospace electronics, conductive coatings, connectors and wiring looms. Stable Dispersions Our conducting polymer nanofibers disperse extremely well in water and several organic solvents without the addition of surfactants, allowing the formation of highly stable and homogeneous conducting films and blends. Electronics Many electronics applications including capacitors, non-volatile memory, transparent conducting electrodes, electrochromic (color changing) displays and organic light emitting diodes (OLED’s) benefit from the unique characteristics of our materials. |
